Many thanks to The Local Electrician team who were all courteous, considerate and competent sparkies. Working in teams of two over 3 consecutive days they solved problems, installed new meters and re-cabled much of our double storey, double brick home in Earlwood. Built in 1939 it provided challenges but the team remained unfazed and got the job done with a smile and pats for our dogs. Special thanks to Dylan, Nick, John and Justin for leading the way. These guys are the best.!We has a fuse fail and needed quick help. We called three companies for their advertised emergency service - two didn’t answer and one said he had no one availableThese guys answered out of hours on a Sunday and had Nick arrive first thing in the morning to patch the connection and a then team led by Reggie returned the next morning to replace the board causing the fault all within a couple of hours and in the rain and a great fair price for the hustle and expertise.Can’t beat the service and the reliability.Thanks againRich

We had an amazing experience with Nick. He was on time, very friendly and helpful.He listened to the issue (which I had tried to sort with several other electricians) and he explained the options of what could be the problem.He didn’t try to push us to get unnecessary work done as other electricians had done. Instead suggested getting the hot water system checked first as that was possibly the issue. What are Some EV Charger Installation Questions to Ask Electricians?
| Question | Why ask this |
| How much electricity is needed for the EV charger? | An electrician will be able to provide their advice on what electric vehicle charger will be needed, level 1 or 2. Most residential homes can run safely on level 1 chargers but level 2 chargers can be installed and are recommended when possible due to being more powerful and reliable. |
| Will my current electrical switchboard handle the electrical demand? | Asking if the current switchboard can handle the new EV charger is important. An electrician will inspect the current electrical switchboard and see if it needs upgrading or if it is fine to provide electricity and protect the charger. |
| Do I need to install 3 phase for my EV charger to properly work? | 3 phase power should be discussed with the electrician to see if the home can or cannot handle the power load from the EV charger. A 3 phase switchboard upgrade for the electric vehicle charger will be performed by the licensed electrician where the more powerful power supply will provide electricity to the charger more reliably. |
| How will the electric vehicle charger be installed? | Asking the overall process of the EV charger installation is important. An electrician will arrive and perform the measurements to see how much cable is needed for the EV charger installation, where the station will be installed and inspect the meter box. They will perform any preparations for the Electric vehicle charger and when it comes to installing the station it often takes 2 to 4 hours. Tests and inspections are always performed as well during the EV charger installation. |
| Can I perform the EV charging station installation myself? | There are limited tasks untrained electricians can perform themselves but installing a EV charger at home requires a qualified electrician. |
| How fast will the car charge? | Along with safety and convenience, choosing to install an EV charging station over plugging the car into a wall outlet will mean it charges faster. For example, a 7kW charger which is standard for home usage will often charge an EV car with a 40kWh battery within 5 to 6 hours. If three phase power is installed and a 22kW charger then the speed to charge the car increases by a large amount. |
| Should I install a tethered or untethered charger? | Tethered charging stations have a cable attached to them while untethered chargers have no cable. This means that tethered cables are more convenient because the cable is connected to the station but when a new car is needed then often the whole station needs replacing as the cable is not compatible with the car. Untethered chargers are more flexible and when changing EVs with a different connection then the plug can easily be changed instead of replacing the whole station. |

Many thanks to The Local Electrician team who were all courteous, considerate and competent sparkies. Working in teams of two over 3 consecutive days they solved problems, installed new meters and re-cabled much of our double storey, double brick home in Earlwood. Built in 1939 it provided challenges but the team remained unfazed and got the job done with a smile and pats for our dogs. Special thanks to Dylan, Nick, John and Justin for leading the way. My mother had no power throughout half her house last week and was in need of an electrician. She called the local electrician, and Dylan came out and found the fault within minutes, leaving my mother very pleased. They pointed out some safety issues at the switchboard and even asked to call a family member to discuss the findings and walk through some suggested solutions. My mother hasn't been doing too well lately, and I really appreciate that they called me to discuss the options. After the discussion, we came to a conclusion, and the team was out there the next day to rectify the issues. I really appreciate that they called before proceeding with the works. These guys are the best.!We has a fuse fail and needed quick help. We called three companies for their advertised emergency service - two didn’t answer and one said he had no one availableThese guys answered out of hours on a Sunday and had Nick arrive first thing in the morning to patch the connection and a then team led by Reggie returned the next morning to replace the board causing the fault all within a couple of hours and in the rain and a great fair price for the hustle and expertise.Can’t beat the service and the reliability.Thanks againRich

Today had Justin and Braidon attend the call out. They replaced two old lights with new LED oyster lights. They were both very friendly and polite. No question was too small. We had a few jobs that needed doing from mounting a TV to installing a floodlight and having our down-lights in our kitchen replaced and fans installed in our bedrooms. We had an amazing experience with Nick. He was on time, very friendly and helpful.He listened to the issue (which I had tried to sort with several other electricians) and he explained the options of what could be the problem.He didn’t try to push us to get unnecessary work done as other electricians had done. Instead suggested getting the hot water system checked first as that was possibly the issue.
